‘Love Song For Illusion’ Episode 16: Will Park Ji Hoon Free Himself From His Shadow?

Park Ji Hoon and Yeon Wol find each other in a stalemate in the final episode of "Love Song For Illusion."

To ascend to the throne, one must get rid of the things that hold him back and free himself from his shadow. Meanwhile, the other sacrifices herself to keep her true love safe.

Sajo Yung Tries To Assume the Throne

Yeon Wol (Hong Ye Ji) weeps as she sees Sajo Hyun (Park Ji Hoon) get punished due to Ak Hee's wrongdoings.

Sajo Yung (Hwang Hee) persuades the former to cooperate with him. Yeon Wol surprisingly agrees, allowing him to ascend to the throne.

The purge of Sajo Yung begins and imprisons Geum Hwa (Ji Woo) for treason as he tortures her father Jin Mu Dal (Kang Shin Il) after betraying the king.

Unbeknownst to them, Sajo Hyun has been pretending to be Ak Hee all this time. He returns to the palace after planning everything with Yeon Wol.

Sajo Hyun Punishes Sajo Yung

Sajo Hyun orders to kill Sajo Yung, beheading him before the palace. However, the queen, Sajo Yung's mother, retaliates by trying to murder Yeon Wol.

She collapses on the ground as she vomits blood due to the poison in her body. Ak Hee, who's been resting inside the space of the heart, rushes to Yeon Wol's aid.

Ak Hee eagerly convinces Sajo Hyun that he must live with her, realizing that the evil spirit is just a part of himself. He realizes that his weakness is only an illusion.

However, Sajo Hyun refuses to allow Ak Hee to overcome the body as he becomes more fully aware of their differences as well as the consequences of their actions.

Sajo Hyun & Yeon Wol's Happy Ever After

Sajo Hyun then announces that Ak Hee, his alter ego and "dark side," will now disappear, creating a huge tension between the two as he tends to Yeon Wol's needs.

At the end of the episode, Sajo Yung ascends to the throne as the new king of the palace. Yeon Wol is back with greater health as the king's wife.

"Love Song For Illusion" ends with Sajo Hyun and Yeon Wol overcoming adversity, and spending their lives as a married couple.
