The disturbing trend of celebrity impersonation scams continues to persist online, as fake news articles manipulating the likeness of famous actor Song Joong Ki to promote a cryptocurrency scam have resurfaced.
Despite requests to block these ads, they remain rampant, which mislead internet users.
According to a source, one article that gained support through Google AdSense, claimed that the "Reborn Rich" actor made lucrative earnings from a cryptocurrency website boasting guaranteed returns of over 80% for a small deposit of $29.
In addition, the published article also includes a clickable link, which is said to be endorsed by Song Joong Ki, directing the audience to the questionable trading platform.
The alarming level of detail in the impersonation extends to using actual screenshots from legitimate interviews and journalist names, enhancing the illusion of authenticity.
What is more troubling is that Song Joong Ki's name is not the only celebrity being used by the scammers. They also use prominent figures Park Shin Hye and Chairman Koo Kwang Mo of LG.
An official from a legitimate cryptocurrency exchange said that any trading platform that doesn't follow proper identity verification should be considered fraudulent.
Furthermore, Song Joong Ki's side has not yet responded to the issue involving their artist.

On the other hand, Song Joong Ki has no confirmed project yet and is focused on being a husband and dad to Katie Saunders and their firstborn.
The actor's latest lead work was Netflix's original film "My Name is Loh Kiwan," where he worked for the first time with rising actress Choi Eun Sung.
His last lead drama was "Reborn Rich," which recorded impressive ratings during its run on primetime.
