K-pop icon and actress Seohyun is opening up about her personal life and career philosophy, reaffirming her commitment to high standards and a scandal-free reputation in a rare variety show appearance nearly two decades after her debut.

On the June 16 episode of the YouTube variety show Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yeop, Seohyun appeared alongside fellow Girls' Generation member Hyoyeon.

The episode, titled "Seohyun and Hyoyeon, Burning It Up Like It's Our Last Variety Show", offered fans a rare glimpse behind the polished image of one of K-pop's most enduring stars.

"Girls' Generation was my entire 20s," said Seohyun, who debuted in 2007 as the youngest member of the beloved girl group.

Seohyun, who has maintained her clean and organized image throughout her public life, shared that her healthy habits were the result of being a very responsible person.

"I thought, 'If I get caught in a dating scandal too, it would reflect poorly on the group,'" she said, explaining why she deliberately avoided romantic controversies during her idol years. Hyoyeon praised her former bandmate's maturity and leadership, recalling, "Even though she was the youngest, she kept us in line.

Most people in their 20s want to date and party, but she would remind us, 'We're the face of Girls' Generation—we can't act that way.'"

Comedian Jung Ho-chul brought up a viral moment when Seohyun once described her ideal partner as "a man like me," a remark that sparked online curiosity. "I still believe a man like me exists out there," Seohyun said with a smile. "I have extremely high standards—like, sky-high. But I've lived my life well, so I want to meet someone who's done the same."

In a separate interview earlier this year while promoting her film Holy Night: Demon Hunters, Seohyun emphasized the importance of authenticity. "As Seo Joo-hyun, the person, I want to live well. That's how Seohyun the celebrity can also be happy," she said.

Currently starring in the KBS2 romantic drama "The First Night with the Duke," which premiered on June 11, Seohyun continues to navigate the entertainment industry with her signature grace and integrity.
