Many viewers have voiced their dismay at her demeanor and demanded that she be dropped from the show.

The episode, broadcast last week, was about a housewarming party at Ji Ye Eun's new home.

What was set to be a heartwarming and funny feature turned off-colored after the idol's behavior was labeled by most as inconsiderate and disrespectful — to her guests, as well as to Korean cultural sensitivities.

When the Running Man cast arrived, who had taken along different housewarming gifts, Ji Ye Eun was said to have waved aside some of them with a promise to "only accept the ones she personally liked."

During preparation for meals, the tensions grew when she over-seasoned the food. When Yoo Jae Suk, an older cast member, pointed out that the meal was "too salty."

Ji Ye Eun matter-of-factly replied, "I like food salty," without trying to correct the seasoning.

Adding to the aggro of the viewers, Ji Ye Eun was caught using high-end tableware for herself and serving disposable wooden cutlery and paper plates to her guests — a direct opposite of the Korean tradition of hosting guests with impeccable hospitality.

Ji Suk Jin had noticed it while filming and said, "You're the only one using expesive chopsticks and we're given this..."

The response online was immediate and overwhelming, with netizens swarming social media websites and internet forums to voice their displeasure.

Netizen Comments

"It just felt like she was trying to create a comedic character, but it failed."

"If it were Lee Kwang Soo or Haha acting like that, it wouldn't have been a controversy."

"I've always disliked her whiny personality. Never understood why she was being promoted so hard."

"She often says she has no days off and feels exhausted. Maybe she's really burned out."

"Now I get what Yoo Jae Suk was saying. One way to fix a burnout is to have all work cut off."

"Seems like the producers and members just dismiss all the comments as hate. I loved this show before, but I hope it ends."

"Honestly, I just watched it as a variety show skit. Was it really that uncomfortable to watch?"

"It's all scripted. Don't overreact."

At the moment, there has been no official word from Ji Ye Eun or SBS about the issue. It is unknown whether producers of the show will cover the public clamor or take any steps regarding her future on the show.
