While some complimented her looks, others trolled her acting and questioned the casting decisions for the show.

The controversy picked up on Pann Nate Talk, where a post was made called "How about Yuna's Tyrant Chef??" that attracted thousands of views and dozens of comments from netizens weighing in on their thoughts.

One commenter criticized Yoona's acting approach. "Every time she does the same lively, over-the-top comical character, it's just so cringey that I can't watch her acting. Is she not able to act naturally? It seems like Yoona really doesn't know how to act."

Another user echoed the sentiment, writing, "It's childish and the female lead's acting isn't that great either...."

Other netizens also focused on the male lead. "The controversy over ㅅㅈㅎ is so bad that I think if Jeon Jae-jun had been the male lead, he would have done really well. The male lead acting is really bad right now," said one.

Another fan questioned one of the supporting actresses' acting. "Is Nam Bae a rookie? I'm surprised at how bad her acting is. It's just a drama that Yoona covers alone," the fan commented.

Others contrasted Tyrant's Chef with more recent endeavors. "The movie The Devil Moved In failed to draw more than 500,000 viewers, and The Tyrant's Chef also suffered a crushing defeat in premiere ratings to its time slot competitor, Twelve," noted one user.

Not all the comments were unfavorable. One fan complimented Yoona's on-screen presence, stating simply, "Yuna is so pretty."

In spite of the conflicting responses, Tyrant's Chef continues to draw eye-balls online, both in terms of Yoona's long-lasting popularity and conflicting sentiments regarding her acting.

The performance of the drama during subsequent weeks can be decisive as to whether it can shake off initial criticism or continue to be eclipsed by rivals.
