Lee Yi-kyung officially announced that he will take a break from acting due to a scandal regarding false rumors and fabricated materials.

As per KBZoom, the controversy arose when a netizen identified only as A came forward to claim they had a private conversation with the actor and shared edited messages and computer-generated photos to try to validate their claims.
The netizen subsequently made a public apology, admitting the abuse of technology: "It started as fan admiration but gradually felt real. I apologize for spreading false rumors," A admitted, confessing that the content was completely made-up.

Korea Joongang Daily noted that Lee Yi-kyung's agency denied the rumors as false and revealed that legal action has already been initiated: "The rumors are entirely unfounded. We will hold those responsible accountable to protect the actor's reputation," the agency stated while emphasizing its commitment to protecting Lee's public image.
Despite the controversy, Lee Yi-kyung maintained his professional schedule. On October 23, his appearance on tvN's reality show Handsome Guys aired as planned. He displayed his signature humor while completing challenges, including selling 50 hot dogs as a penalty task.
Cha Tae-hyun, the co-host of the program, drew attention to the show continuing to do well, "Finally, we're a regular program!" he said upon conclusion of the broadcast, celebrating the accomplishment for the series.
Lee Yi-Kyung expressed his own thoughts to his fans about what was going on with his career at this time: "I'll take a short break to recharge and come back refreshed," he stated, suggesting an intention to come back with more purpose.
