Actor Song Joong-ki has announced his next project, as he joins the forthcoming romantic comedy "Love Cloud" in just two months since the completion of JTBC's "My Youth."

According to the Dec. 8 report from OSEN, Song received a script proposal for the series and decided to star in the drama after reviewing it positively. He is to play Kang Woo-ju, a former flight instructor who became an air traffic controller, and reunites with a prospective pilot seven years after their first meeting.

Explaining the premise, the production team told ZAPZEE, "Love Cloud tells the story of Kang Woo-joo and Ahn Ha-ni, who reconnect in mystical Jeju, where even love becomes the weather." The series will be directed by Song Min-yeop of KBS2's "Youth of May" and "High Cookie." Scripts are to be written by rookie writing team Mad Rabbit.

About Song's rapid confirmation to join the project, a production insider told OSEN, "Song Joong-ki is selective about his projects. His quick confirmation shows how excited he is about this unique story."

Fans have expressed anticipation for his new role. One social media comment read, "IIt's exciting to see Song Joong-ki take on roles he's never played before — a flight instructor and air traffic controller. His performance will be interesting to watch." Another fan added, "He always brings charm and depth to his characters. Can't wait for this series."

An actress who is actively working in dramas and films, the female lead has also been cast. Filming will start next year, while casting for supporting roles is under way.

Starting his career in 2008 with the movie "A Frozen Flower," Song Joong-ki has appeared in dramas such as "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," "Deep Rooted Tree," "The Innocent Man," "Descendants of the Sun," "Arthdal Chronicles," "Vincenzo," "Reborn Rich," and "My Youth."

His film appearances include "A Werewolf Boy," "The Battleship Island," "Space Sweepers," "Hwaran," "My Name is Loh Kiwan," and "Bogota: City of Lost Souls."

Additionally, apart from his acting career, Song had maintained a strong global fan presence; he even held meetings in Korea and Japan this year. In 2023, he announced his marriage and pregnancy with British actress Katie Louise Saunders, and he has welcomed a son and daughter.
