Ji Chang-wook, lead actor in the Disney+ original drama 'The Manipulated', met with reporters on December 11 at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of December 11. He commented on audience response related to the open ending and possibility within the drama.

Talking about issues with regard to the credibility of the drama, Ji made it clear that he understood there were varying opinions. As he explained, "With a certain concept, while it might be fun for some, it might be boring and absurd for others. How can we adapt something like this to the public? We have a lot of meetings and discussions about this"
His focus on making sure that he maintained the drama and made it as credible as possible should be noted. As he said, "It might seem implausible, but within the genre of our work, I thought that it was plausible. ... So, I did my best,"per OSEN.
Ji also broke down why he made certain decisions with regard to the ending of the drama. Reflecting on some of the actions that were made within the plot by the main character, he said, "Actually, looking at my previous works, I thought it would be better to have a clear revenge scene ... Tae-joong is someone who saves people, so to what extent should he use his action scenes? ... He's an avenger, but he's curious about how far and how much violence should he use against a certain villain." He added that the ending's approach, in which Yohan is not killed, was deliberate, stating, "I hope that person pays for his crimes until the end, so I thought that wouldn't be revenge."
He then added that he specifically made the ending about Yohan not getting killed because he wanted that character to pay for what he did at the very end.
As for speculation about season 2, Ji replied that it's not going to happen. It seems that he wanted to make it clear that he doesn't have any intention of joining season 2.
About giving an answer regarding season 2, Ji added, "People sometimes develop feelings even when they're completely empty. This project has been really difficult right now, and I really don't want to do any action scenes for the time being. ... If you offer me a season 2, I would be so grateful."
Ji responded to audience queries about his character and girlfriend, Pyo Ye-jin, regarding the romantic subplot: was a little disappointed as well. ... Actually, I think that was the director's choice during the directing process."
Regarding a relationship between two of his co-characters, he said, "was a little disappointed as well. ... Actually, I think that was the director's choice during the directing process," a per The Chosun Daily
