Kim Ji-won has officially started working on her next big project as she takes the lead role in SBS's new Friday to Saturday drama titled "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia."

Filming started on December 4, which began the Korean adaptation after the Japanese series "Doctor X," that ran for seven seasons on TV Asahi. The Studio S and Studio Dragon in tandem with Hi-Zium Studio present the drama.
It is centered around Gye Soo-jung, an ace surgeon who only believes in capability in a hospital system where the threads of corruption are entwined. The series extends SBS's roster of high-octane, justice-driven dramas like "Taxi Driver" and "The Fiery Priest," making "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia" one of the most highly-anticipated titles on the network, according to Sports Chosun.
The production also brings together a high-profile creative team. Director Lee Jung-rim, known for VIP and The Devil, puts his head together with writer Pyeon Sung-geun.

The cast includes Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok, who each take on pivotally important parts within the hierarchy of this medical thriller. According to Naver's reporting, the ensemble is expected to deliver a dynamic interplay of characters.

In the drama, Kim plays Gye Soo-jung, a genius surgeon dispatched from a doctor referral agency. She becomes a substitute in the surgical department at Guseo University Hospital and acquires the nickname "mad dog" of the operation theater.
Director Lee Jung-rim shared, "'Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia' has finally begun its first shoot... actress Kim Ji-won clearly embodied the strong presence of the character 'Kye Soo-jung' from the first shoot, firmly establishing the center of the project."
He further emphasised the show's vision: "'Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia' is a medical noir genre piece that unfolds centered around the activities of a genius surgeon. We will do our best to deliver a deeply immersive and high-quality story to the viewers." - Sports Chosun Filming started well according to the production's words, with a "pleasant first shovel," which signals the full-scale work has started.
Slated to hit the small screen in 2026, the drama is increasing expectations now more than ever since Kim Ji-won is up for another commanding lead role.
