Han Ji Min is a contender for the leading role in the drama "Angel Eyes" and also appears as a soju-loving indie singer in the film "Plan Man" which comes out this week. She plays a queen in the 2014 film "The King's Wrath" and has appeared in melodramas such as "Padam Padam" and in the comedy "Rooftop Prince" with Park Yoochun.

It looks like 2014 will be a great year for this actress. Here are a few fun facts about her.

1. She worked hard to get away from her ingénue image in dramas. After a series of such roles, she played a resistance fighter in "Capital Scandal," a royal concubine in the historical drama "Yi San" and a femme fatale in the film "Detective K: The Secret of the Virtuous Widow." Her new role in "Plan Man" is another step in that direction.

"I've always played women who were very feminine and innocent, or spirited and cheerful, in TV dramas," she said. "But I'm tired of these kinds of roles now. I wanted to play a woman with a strong personality, so the role of a free-spirited vocalist in a band was very appealing."

2. Park Yoochun considered dating her. When he was filming "Rooftop Prince," he felt as if he had known her forever and was touched by her considerate nature.

"When I looked at scenes where Ji Min noona and I acted together, I felt that we looked good together," said Yoochun. "I wonder if it would be okay to officially date someone like her. Since I am a celebrity, I would be criticized if I were to go public with a relationship. I wonder if I will receive lesser criticisms and more blessings if I were to date someone who looks good with me."

3. The actress speaks English well, having learned it from a cousin who lived abroad for many years.

4. She doesn't follow the ratings of a drama that she is in, preferring to work hard and focus on her scenes.

"I don't keep tabs on TV ratings," she said. "I know it's important to know the opinions of our viewers but it would ruin my mood if I read something very critical."

5. When filming a drama she finds that it is more important to get to know the production crew.

" During my debut, in the drama 'Resurrection," I memorized and learned the names of the staff. As they're people who suffer in the same unfavorable conditions, as the actors, I learned to approach the staff first. It makes working together more enjoyable and keeps the set cheerful. That's why I strive to become close with them. My first director taught me well during my rookie days."

Such concern should serve her well if she commits to starring in the drama "Angel Eyes."
