Another Ghostly Drama: Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo Young

Lately, k-drama lovers can't get enough of heroes with paranormal abilities. Last year it was half-gumiho Lee Seung Gi in "Gu Family Book," mindreader Lee Jong Suk in "I Hear Your Voice," and the ghost-detecting Gong Hyo Jin in "The Master's Sun." This year it's super-alien Kim Soo Hyun in "You Who Come from The Stars."

Detective Cheo Young in "Ghost Seeing Detective Cheo Young" also has a supernatural ability. He too can see ghosts and you might think this would be handy when you're investigating cases. But it's not quite the plus that you would imagine.

Cheo Yong, played by Oh Ji Ho, does not only see ghosts, he can hear and touch them. His strange behavior, which he can never explain, has earned him the nickname "Crazy Ghost."

Ghosts have bothered him since he was born asking him to do things for them. They interfere with his personal and work life. And seeing them may have cost him the life of his former partner. So Cheo Young sees his abilities as disabilities.

Viewers learn more about his ghost-seeing past when they meet police officer Ha Sun Woo, played by Oh Ji Eun. They hint at some kind of history.

His ability to see ghosts is good news for the schoolgirl ghost Ha Na Young, played by Hyosung, a member of the girl group Secret. At last she has someone to talk to. Detective Cheo Young is not so pleased that she has found him and wants to tag along on his investigations. But she threatens to reveal his ability and he reluctantly allows her to follow him.

Jumping into Ha Sun Woo's body is a fun way to ride along with Oh Ji Ho in the police car. It's also a fun way to sample the delights of the living.

The 10-episode drama is produced by CJ E&M.

According to Park Ho Sik, head of CJ E&M's production team, the mystery thriller is both suspenseful and original.

Fans reacted favorably to the first two episodes, as they took in 3.1 percent of the ratings.

Oh Ji Ho was last seen in the dramas "Queen of the Office" and "The Third Hospital," as well as the film "The Grand Heist."

Oh Ji Eun played Sung Min Ah in "King of Dramas."

Hyosung's only previous role was in "Salamander Guru and the Gang."
