The Olympics broadcasts did not dim the stellar ratings of "You Who Came From The Stars." The drama about an alien who spends 400 years on earth before finding true love earned 25.7 percent of the ratings. That's only .02 percent down from the 25.9 percent rating the week before.

And this happened during a week when other dramas were cancelled because the networks figured viewers were going to tune into the games instead.

Of course the drama's storyline had reached a pivotal point this week with a long-awaited declaration of love.

Kim Soo Hyun's character Do Min Joon finally confessed his feelings for Jun Ji Hyun's character Chun Song Yi. Just when she was sure he really did not like her, he admitted he did. He sealed the deal with a kiss, even though kissing humans is not good for this alien's health.

Is that what you do on the star you're from, she asked, kiss girls you don't like?

And then he had to tell her how much he liked her.

In the rest of the sweet, romantic episode that followed Chun Song Yi finally became optimistic about the future, a future she planned to spend with Do Min Joon. However, it ended on a sad note.

Although he owned up to his feelings, it took Do Min Joon a whole episode to let Chun Song Yi know that they didn't really have a future. He only had one more month left on earth.

And meanwhile the murder plot plodded along, with detectives no closer to finding out how bad Lee Jae Kyung really is. Nor does Lee Jae Kyung seem intimidated enough by the fact that Min Do Joon is an alien to stop his evil scheming.

"Inspiring Generation" achieved second place with10 percent of the viewers. Kim Hyun Joong's transformation into tough street fighter Jung Tae San has amazed many viewers. The actor earned more praise for his performance in the last episode. He was praised for a dramatic crying scene in which he mourns his lost friend Poong Cha, played by Jo Dal Hwan.

The big-budget drama is packed with exciting action scenes and heartbreaking moments. But despite Kim Hyun Joong's acting skills and the beautiful sets, it may have started too late in the run of "You Who Came From The Stars" to earn first place ratings. The drama also stars Im Soo Hyang and Jin Se Yeon.

MBC News desk earned 8.3 percent of the ratings.
