One Utah mom is very unhappy with Pacsun, so unhappy she was willing to spend $567 at the store located in Orem, Utah.
ABC News has reported that the mother was upset by the "indecent" T-shirts that were on display at a Utah mall.
She took it upon herself to remove them by buying every single one of them.
The shirts, specifically the Vans V/SUAL Heartbreakers shirts, have photographs of women posing provocatively in lingerie.
According to Provo Daily Herald, the Utah mom, Judy Cox, came across the shirts when she was shopping with her 18-year-old son.
She explains, "I had a conversation with the store manager. She said she did refuse to put the accompanying banner up with the display because it was much worse, but that she couldn't take down the T-shirts without talking to her corporate office, but the promo was over Wednesday anyway. She said she told them it might not go over well."
Indeed, it didn't "go over well" with one, sole customer in the ultraconservative city of Utah.
According to ABC News, Cox met with Orem city attorney Greg Stephens on Tuesday to discuss whether the images on the T-shirts violated city code.
His solution was to file a complaint with the police, who would then review the problem and decide whether further action needs to be taken.
In an e-mail, Cox stated, "I hope my efforts will inspire others to speak up within their communities. You don't have to purchase $600 worth of T-shirts, but you can express your concerns to businesses and corporations who promote the display of pornography to children."
This isn't the first time someone's complained about a "provocative" image in Orem.
ABC News reports that, in the past, others have complained about images in the windows of Victoria's Secret, causing the image to be removed.
The comparison of the Vans shirts to porn and Victoria's Secret may be a stretch, although for Cox, all images seem to fall under one category of "indecent."
Mall manager Rob Kallas agrees with the Utah mom, saying, "This is a store that caters to junior high and high school age kinds. Some of the poses were provocative and were inappropriate for a store catering to young people."
Is this actually $567 well spent for the Utah mom? Also, won't sales of the V/SUAL Heartbreakers increase due to the attention the line is receiving?
