Kim Soo Hyun Avengers: Cast as Female Shang Chi? Character Update Says Korean Actress Will Play ‘Substantial Supporting Role’ While Upcoming Marvel Movie Can Change Star’s Future

Kim Soo Hyun has been cast for a role in the upcoming "Avengers 2" also known as "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

The Korean actress wrote to fans via Twitter, "After a long wait, I'm happy to be back with great news. I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words 'Welcome to Marvel Universe' are amazing and kind of overwhelming."

She continued, "I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something, looks like fate can make it happen."

Film officials have been trying their best to keep details of Kim Soo Hyun's "Avengers 2" character under wraps.

A film official stated, "It would be a spoiler, so we can't tell you which character Kim Soo Hyun will play. Her character is already decided and the scene is already written so we cast Kim Soo Hyun, but we can't let you know about her character."

The "Avengers 2" official concluded, "We only can say that her character is a substantial supporting role."

Design And Trend has reported that she will likely play "a doctor with ties to Ultron and Tony Stark."

Scifinow reports that every possible Asian Marvel character has been suspected for Kim Soo Hyun's character.

A female Shang Chi has even been included in the mix of potential characters.

Although her character hasn't been announced, this is a huge career move for the actress, also known as Claudia Kim.

According to Escapist Magazine, Kim Soo Hyun's previous acting work only includes several Korean television dramas and that Joss Whedon's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will actually be her first feature film.

The stunning Korean actress will be gaining attention from an international audience, a platform she has yet to be exposed to.

Kim Soo Hyun's scenes will begin shooting in April in Korea while she joins cast members Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner to shoot scenes worldwide.

"Avengers 2" is set to premiere May 1, 2015.
