"KPop Demon Hunters'' has officially dropped out of Netflix's Top 10 movies chart in the United States after an impressive 46-week run, marking the end of one of the streaming platform's biggest breakout success stories in recent years.

According to Netflix tracking data cited by Polygon, the animated fantasy film from Sony Animation and Netflix finally lost its place in the U.S. rankings during the week ending May 10. Newer titles, including Swapped, Remarkably Bright Creatures, and Apex starring Charlize Theron, helped push the demon-slaying K-pop adventure off the domestic chart.

Despite the setback in the United States, "KPop Demon Hunters" continues to perform strongly worldwide. The film recently maintained its 47-week streak on Netflix's global Top 10 English-language movies list, where it held the No. 5 position internationally.

As per AllKpop, the movie first debuted in June 2025 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Centered around fictional K-pop heroines Rumi, Zoey and Mira, the film combined music, fantasy and action, helping it dominate both Netflix and Billboard charts throughout 2025.

The popularity of the franchise eventually earned the film a theatrical release, while the fictional group Huntr/x expanded beyond the movie through merchandise, television appearances and gaming collaborations.

The characters also crossed over into Fortnite, while performers Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami — the singing voices behind the trio — appeared on programs including Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The momentum surrounding the franchise has continued into 2026 with merchandise partnerships, McDonald's collaborations and Grammy wins. The film also secured a place in the Criterion Collection alongside acclaimed titles such as Pinocchio and The Irishman.

Meanwhile, anticipation remains high for "KPop Demon Hunters 2" after Netflix confirmed a multiyear creative partnership with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. While reports suggest the sequel may not arrive until 2029, many fans expect the original film to return to Netflix's Top 10 once the follow-up project is released.
