A Chinese news website reported that Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun made over eighteen million dollars in just two months by filming commercials. According to an entertainment magazine in Guangzhou, China, actor Kim Soo Hyun has been "selling" since the SBS drama "You who came from the stars" ended. The magazine reported that actor Kim Soo Hyun made over a hundred thousand dollars for making a brief appearance of 90 seconds for introducing a new car at Hyundai motor company at the Beijing motor show which took place on April 20, 2014. The article delved into the brands actor Kim Soo Hyun modeled, and the list generated showed 16 different brands and companies, ranging from food brands, cosmetics, department stores, and designer clothing brands. The article said, "As a result of accruing the incentives actor Kim Soo Hyun received through filming commercials for the past two months, by filming commercials for 16 different brands, he made over eighteen million dollars, which is three times more of what he can make in Korea." The compensation actor Kim Soo Hyun received for filming the commercial for the ice cream brand Haagen Daz is over sixteen million dollars, which is more than what actress Fan Bing Bing received, who modeled for Haagen Daz before Kim Soo Hyun. Kim Soo Hyun has currently been invited to 58 different events in China. One event pays him a hundred thousand dollars, and there is a high possibility that the pay will rise up.
