Billy Bob Thornton's 'Entourage' Involvement Not Self-Portrayal? 'Fargo’ Star Surprised About Role!

Billy Bob Thornton's "Entourage" role took the "Fargo" star by surprise as Angelina Jolie's ex-husband initially thought he will do a self-portrayal but was asked to do more than just that.

Bill Bob Thornton will be one of the A-listers appearing on the "Entourage" movie. The Hollywood Reporter officially broke the news in January that the actor would be joining Adrien Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, Rex Lee, Perrey Reeves, and Jeremy Piven to complete the cast of the movie adaptation of the HBO hit series.

But Billy Bob Thornton's "Entourage" role was quite a surprise for himself, which was personally written by his good friend and the show's creator, Doug Ellin.

In an interview with ABC News, Thornton recounted his conversation with Ellin, and how he reacted to it.

"I will be playing a Texas oil billionaire and it was great fun," he told ABC News. "Doug Ellin is a friend and when he asked me to do it, he said, 'Just come down do a couple of scenes.'"

Billy Bob Thornton's "Entourage" involvement will have the "Fargo" actor playing the role of a Texas oil billionaire cowboy turned film financier Larsen McCredle, who raises money for a big-budget Dracula movie in which Vincent Chase (played by Grenier) will be starring.

In the process, he sends his 20-something year old son Travis (played by Haley Joel Osment) to Los Angeles to watch over this said investment.

"I thought he meant to play myself," Thornton continued. "'Cause a lot of that is what 'Entourage' is. But in this case, he said, 'I wrote this part just for you.'"

Entourage has begun filming in February in Los Angeles under Warner Bros. Pictures. It aims to continue the cliffhanger left by the show's eighth and final episode off of its eighth season in 2011.

The series finale has recorded a total of 2.6 million viewers in its first airing alone, making it the most-watched episode of the eighth and final season.
