Sad and shocking news circulated today in Japanese media and anime community as Spyair's vocalist Ike tweeted messages that he is quitting the band yesterday. Spyair's Ike posted these messages in Japanese, saying:
"I'm sending this post from a bed in a Hiroshima hotel from my iPhone in my right hand. I haven't been discussing this with anyone else. I made this decision on my own. Please listen. Please tell others."
Spyair's Ike followed this tweet with the words "I'm quitting SPYAIR!"
Fellow band mates and few musicians from the Japanese music scene have been alarmed with Spyair's Ike and his current condition. Guitarist UZ and drummer Kenta retorted to fans via Twitter that Spyair's members will not give up.
Within the day the band posted an official statement through their website that they will be in indefinite hiatus. It turns out that Spyair's Ike has been diagnosed with a medical condition called acute chorditis and vocal chord polyp, which made Ike post the sad tweets. Spyair stated that because Ike's duty as a vocalist is a very grave one, his illness is getting worse, and moving forward the band will focus on his recovery and at the same time they will update fans about this.
As a result, Spyair will now permanently cancel their upcoming shows in Nagoya, Sapporo, Sendai, and Tokyo. The management will issue an official statement regarding refunds for everyone who purchased the tickets in advance.
We wish Ike a very safe recovery and do not give up the fight!
