Mortal Kombat X Trailer Tease! Returning Characters, New Moves, Awesome Finisher! Series Creator Confirms New Game With Video Leak

The Mortal Kombat X trailer confirms Warner Bros is working on a cross-generational, cross platform title for the series.

Developers are plugging leaks to information meant to be released at E3, just a week away. Some are resigned to the mishap, opting to confirm validated rumors. Fans of Mortal Kombat were in for an advanced treat.

Even though the trailer is a basic, skimpy teaser, the game showcases returning characters at the very least. It also reveals hints to the game's play modes and dynamics.

The Mortal Kombat X trailer is a demo fight between Scorpion and Sub-Zero, set in a snowy landscape. Characters showcased new moves, as well as a jaw-dropping fatality. The announcement video was developed by NetherRealm Studios.

The promotional spiel is distinctly next-gen: "Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience."

It is speculated the game will play like a beat-'em-up like Shaolin Monks (for the PlayStation 2), but the duel previewed on the trailer makes the possibility of it being a one-on-one fighting game more likely; the X-Ray moves staple in the 2011 installment also makes a comeback.

Warner Bros have yet to confirm if the title will make it to all the popular consoles (and in the PC). The Mortal Kombat X trailer was paired with an earlier Amazon leak, with the game described as cross-generational and listed for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the PC.

Series creator Ed Boon previously denied reports the new Mortal Kombat game will be showcased at June E3. Given the title's dark-horse approach to releases, Easter eggs, and marketing, solid confirmation is only available when doors open at the June 9 convention (metro.co.uk).

The Mortal Kombat X trailer should be enough for now, confirming a new game in development at the very least.
