44-year-old Jennifer Lopez and 27-year-old Casper Smart have split after two and a half years of dating, according to TMZ.

The split was amicable and the two still remain friends, but had been growing apart for the past couple months, added the gossip site, according to New York Daily News.

A source told the publication that Lopez and Smart decided to go their separate ways a couple of months ago. Casper Smart is reportedly currently moving out while Lopez promotes her tenth studio album.

"It wasn't an easy decision, but they decided to stay friends. Their relationship couldn't work with the distance. He started trying to establish his own life and career, and she is so focused on hers, and they just couldn't be all about each other anymore," stated a source to Us Weekly.

Smart was reportedly rumored to have been texting with a transgendered woman he met through Instagram. It has been reported that the texting had nothing to do with their break up.

"Casper has been a single guy and can text or see whoever he wants, but the idea that he was knowingly texting a transsexual is laughable," stated an insider.

The source added, "He's not that guy."

Even if it has been reported that the duo split a couple months ago, Jennifer Lopez was still seen thanking her former boyfriend during her speech for her Icon of the Year award at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, which was less than a month ago on May 18, according to HollywoodLife.

The "American Idol" judge seems to be moving on and focusing on keeping her already successful career going.

The singer held her first concert in her hometown of Bronx, New York on June 4 and reportedly looked beyond stunning during her performance.
