Dead Rising 3 PC Release: Horrible Port Incoming Reportedly Admitted By Capcom Developer As Devs Admit PC Game Development Is Not Top Priority For Capcom Executives!

The Dead Rising 3 PC will be a horrible port because it will not be optimized for the system according to a developer at Capcom.

According to a Dead Rising 3 developer on NeoGAF, Dead Rising 3 on PC will not have an optimised 60fps port due to Capcom's 'higher-ups' thinking PC isn't enough of a priority to include more effort and money into the port.

The Capcom developer on NeoGaf posted:

The main problem with our engine is that it's custom and in-house but we don't have tons of resources (we make only one game series). And DR3 was developed over a generation transition to boot. All those factors together mean that we can get games out the door and design them mostly how we like, but the code incurs technical debt. So stuff like this happens when something like 60FPS isn't considered in advance, but the engine is too hard to change- you have to basically rewrite large components, then push out extra QA. I'm guessing the higher-ups don't think PC is enough of a priority for an expensive drive like that. I'd fix it myself, but I get terrified whenever I get into the entrenched code for the core of anything.

It was recently announced that players will get the choice of enabling 60fps in Dead Rising 3 PC but this is not at an optimised frame rate so oddities and glitches within the games physics and overall gameplay will happen according to Capcom.

You can find the full thread regarding the frame rate within Dead Rising 3 here.
