Everyone knows her as the ultimate Tony Ahn fan in the drama "Reply 1997", but Jung Eun Ji promised to show a new side to herself through the upcoming KBS drama "Trot Lovers."

During the press conference on June 18 at the Grand Ambassador Seoul Hotel, Jung Eun Ji stated, "I didn't think I would receive a lead role on a regular channel this early in my career.

Her first drama "'Reply 1997" was broadcast in the cable channel tvN.

She added, "I realized that one way of overcoming my nervousness was to befriend the staff and crew at the filming set. I learned that in order to look more natural at my acting, I have to be comfortable at my surrounding, so I've been exerting a lot of effort into becoming close with the staff members."

Finally, she said, "I am very honoured to have been cast for the lead role. I will do my best in portraying a good character for the audience."

Meanwhile, she also debunked the rivalry rumors between her and singer-actress IU, who was the previous contender for her role.

Jung Eun Ji will be playing the role of Choi Chun Hee, a young dreamer who takes care of her father and younger sister. She inherited her mother's singing voice, and uses her talent to achieve her goals of becoming a world-class trot singer.

"Trot Lovers" will premiere on June 23.
