During an episode of TV Chosun's "Huh Young Man's Food Travel in Seoul" on March 22, singer and actor Im Chang Jung talked about the surprising story behind his music career. The seasoned entertainer discussed how one phone call changed the course of his career in a big way.

AllKpop reported that when asked how he balances acting and singing, Im thought about his personality and what he wants to do with his life.

"I have a naturally restless and curious personality. My dream was simply to be an entertainer in any form, whether as a comedian, stage actor, or musical star."

Host Huh Young Man praised Im's energy, saying that lazy people only think about what they want to do and never do anything about it.

Im then talked about how he started singing after his acting career hit a rough patch. He said, "I was making a living through part-time jobs like delivering gas. During this difficult time, I received a life-changing phone call from actor Lee Byung Hun. Lee introduced me to producer Eom Ki Baek, who directed me to a musical rehearsal room. After singing a song by Kim Jong Seo on the spot, I was immediately handed a script and cast in the musical," according to The Chosun Daily.

He said that the musical performance got the attention of an album producer, which led to his first singing performance in 1995.

"My debut was initially completely ignored by the public. One day I heard my song playing from a street cart in Daehangno. Overjoyed, I listened to the whole track, only to hear it playing from another cart right next to it. Within a week, my debut song 'Already to Me' reached the top 10 on the unofficial street charts and eventually climbed to number 6 on official music broadcast shows."

At the end of the interview, Im played the first song from his new 18th studio album, "Crazy Fool." He said that the song was about regret and blaming oneself, and he summed up its emotional core by saying, "You should have treated her better when you had her, you crazy fool"

Im's honest storytelling kept fans and viewers interested. He talked about the lucky moment that changed his life from being a struggling actor to a famous singer, as well as his love of music and performance decades later.
