Seo Taiji And Actress Wife Decide Not To Press Charges
Legendary pop star Seo Taiji has decided not to press charges against the fan that broke into his home in northern Seoul. The break-in and subsequent arrest took place on June 23rd.
The Jongno-gu police arrested the 31-year-old female fan on Monday evening after she was found inside the $5 million home belonging to the singer and his actress wife Lee Eun Sung.
Seo Taiji will not pursue the penalty for unlawful entry, which is three years in jail or a $5,000 fine.
The singer said that he decided not to file criminal charges because the incident was not significant. There are often fans hanging around his home, but the singer asked that in future his fans refrain from such extreme actions.
The stalker frightened his wife Lee Eun Sung, who is seven months pregnant. When the actress returned home, she opened the garage door and found the stalker there. She immediately closed the garage door, trapped the stalker inside and called the police. When the police arrived, the woman was sitting in the passenger seat of Seo Taiji's car.
The intruder told the police that she has been a fan of the singer for at least ten years and it was also not the first time she waited outside the house.
A Seo Taiji Company representative spoke with TV Report about the incident.
"It has been confirmed that the woman invaded Seo Taiji's garage," said the Seo Taiji Company representative. "It appears that she has loitered around the premises for over a year."
Before entering the garage that day, the stalker rang the doorbell multiple times. She hoped that the singer would answer the door and she could meet him. Then she noticed the garage door was open and went inside.
Seo Taiji is a former member of Seo Taiji and the Boys, the first modern successful South Korean boy band. Seo now works as a solo artist and plans to release another album in 2014.
The 41-year-old singer married Lee Eun Sung, 24, in August of 2013. The couple dated for three years before deciding to marry and their first child is expected in August.
Seo Taiji was previously married to actress Lee Ji Ah. Their marriage was a secret until after the couple divorced.
Lee Eun Sung appeared in the drama "I Am Happy" and the film "Take Off." She met Seo when she appeared in the music video for his song "Bermuda Triangle."
