A couple of months after Apple announced its plan to have Dr. Dre's music streaming interest and headphone, the company officially welcome Beats to the family on Friday.
Both sides have issued a statement celebrating this joint venture. A deal worth $3 billion finalized the deal, which includes the popular audio devices and streaming services of Beats into Apple's fold. Apple has easily surpassed all of the hurdles in a matter of months.
On its official statement, Apple wrote: "Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we're thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do."
The statement added: "We're delighted to be working with the team to elevate that experience even further. And we can't wait to hear what's next."
Apple initially made the announcement of this union in May. Aside from the interest on Beats' headphones, Apple executives have earlier mentioned that they are also considering getting the streaming services of Beats.
The deal was closed quickly, which did not surprise the public anymore. The deal has also immediately received the approval of the European Union earlier this week. The regulators said that no competitive issue is expected to rise out of this momentous deal.
Amidst the celebration, the most crucial question now is the plan of Apple on the operations of Beats. There were reports claiming that Apple might lay off several employees as it intends to cut around 200 jobs. This is because there are overlapping responsibilities of the staff in Apple and Beats. Apple has not yet denied or confirmed the allegation.
Apple may have to deal with lawsuits filed against Beats as well. Just last week, Bose announced that it plans to file a lawsuit against Beats on the ground of noise-cancelling headphone patents.
