DC Movies: Because Of 'Green Lantern' DC Opts To Have No Humor Infused In Future Films; Fans Can Expect A Very Serious 'Justice League' Movie, 'Wonder Woman' Stand Alone and 'Aquaman' Movie Underway?

DC Movies have a distinct tone and feel to it.  While superheroes over at Marvel can stop for a shawarma fix after saving the planet, DC superheroes couldn't be expected to be seen doing anything of those- at least not in the near future.

Drew McWeeny over at HitFix shared his insights about why DC Movies are less humorous than their Marvel counterparts.  McWeeny linked it to DC's attempt to include more wit and humor in the "Green Lantern."  Unfortunately, the move was not a success, to say the least, the movie didn't enjoy the same attention and box office feat like "Batman The Dark Knight."

In the article, McWeeny said, "DC treats their superhero characters more like gods, fighting battles that we simply can't comprehend or participate in because of our natures. Even Batman, who has no superpowers, is treated like he is a legend, an icon that he's nurtured as a symbol of fear. Marvel characters are more flawed, more human, struggling to live human lives while still dealing with their powers and their responsibility to the world. And if DC finds a way to try to play their films on this larger, operatic, hero-as-myth level storytelling, I'd be excited to see that. I'd want to see that."

"But if "No Jokes" is a reaction to "Green Lantern," an edict that comes from a desire to simply do things differently from Marvel, it could really paint DC's movies into a corner, and I would imagine that it's giving some filmmakers pause in considering whether or not they'd want to make a DC movie."

On a different note, DC Movies has come up with an upcoming list until 2020. And like Marvel's movies list, majority of the projects remain unconfirmed and unnamed.

However, rumors are starting to spread that DC might take the route Marvel has taken in coming up with the 'Avengers.'  News broke that the reason why 'Batman V Superman' was delayed was because it will be used to kick-start the "Justice League" movie.

Rumors are also starting to circulate that an "Aquaman" movie is also in the works, as well as a "Wonder Woman" stand alone film and "Man of Steel 2."  No additional information has been offered for these speculations as of the moment.
