‘Outlander’ Series Recap: Claire’s Escape Foiled! Failed Attempt Causes Trouble For Jamie
The previous "Outlander" series recap for episode 4 had the audience holding their breaths as Claire Beauchamp Randall tried her luck at escaping while the gathering was taking place. Unfortunately, her efforts came to naught. Worse, she has put Jamie into serious trouble.
Access Hollywood shared top highlights for this "Outlander" series recap that are too good to miss. Even if the entire episode only had "the gathering" as the backdrop, all the suspense enveloping Claire's attempt, plus the events that unfolded therein, more than sufficed to keep avid viewers on edge.
Prior to the awaited event, Claire made good use of her playing with Leoch's children that involved their running through the woods. While the kids were lost in their enjoyment, she stayed alert and successfully pulled off her plan to create her escape path by marking trees with ribbons tied to branches.
Angus and Rupert came in and pleaded Claire to join the event, thus the game grounded to a halt. While there, she stayed alert and focused on her scheme. She managed to distract the boys en route to the camps with the aid of an unwitting accomplice: a woman who was attracted to the boys.
People revealed in the "Outlander" series recap that while the heroine was busily putting her plan to work, along came another hindrance in the form of Geillis. He gave her a mysterious warning, which she just chose to shrug off.
While the men were busy pledging during the event, Claire took her chance. But again, another bodyguard steps in to distract her. She shook him off successfully by getting him drunk.
A drunken reveler who tried to take advantage of her stopped her along the way. Douglas came and took the drunken man's place. She got rid of him by hitting him over the head and then headed off to the stables as fast as she could.
It was then that Jamie appeared, telling her to abandon her plans by considering the dangers. He convinced her and together, they went back to the castle. En route, a group of men confronted them, knocked out Jamie and dragged him back to the ceremony.
Jamie was put on the spot. Not wanting to upset Colum, he pledged his goodwill and loyalty. So all that started well...took on a different spin, not necessarily bad. But it was not exactly in accordance to Claire's plan either.
As to what will take place next, that the audience will find out in the upcoming episode that will be aired on Saturday at 9 p.m. on Starz, People reported.
