Fortunately, for fans of the cult hit, this "The Boondock Saints 3" movie news did not take as long as the movie's sequel did. And it is this delay that had some netizens wondering if it would affect the standing of the movie, which stars Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead" fame and Sean Patrick Flanery, in the box office once the third sequel hits the cinemas.

Rumors taken from the fans' grapevine (evident through their comments on various publication articles discussing the movie) revealed what was going through their minds while waiting for the third sequel.

Well, Troy Duffy, the director, and the rest of his team did take their sweet time in making the second franchise, and now it seems like the third one would follow suit. Case in point: the "The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day" was released in 2009, an exact decade after the launching of the "The Boondock Saints" in 1999.

Five years after the second franchise became a hit, Slash Film shared in their "The Boondock Saints 3" movie news that the third one already has a title "The Boondock Saints 3: Legion" and a script.

As of this point, no one can tell if it will take another five years before the third sequel finally comes out. Even if Duffy took all the blames for the delay, as shared by Slash Film, it explains nothing about whether or not the hiatus had anything to do with their working on it to suit their fans' tastes to a T. This notion coincides with Norman's comment in his interview with Hopeful Monster where he said that it is the people's movie.

Going back to the leaked parts of the script, the third franchise would dig into the MacManuses's background. Slash Film revealed that this would mean going as far back as the event of their first kill. This time around, fans will be seeing a meaner and more notorious version of the vigilante brothers. Such transformation to their characters is only natural after serving time in jail. Getting locked up for years toughened them up all the more.

So does this imply that Troy has considered Norman's suggestion to make the third sequel darker?  Fans need only wait until the next "The Boondock Saints 3" movie news to find out.
