Although there is no definite confirmation that the movie adaptation of Stieg Larsson's first book to "The Girl With th Dragon Tattoo" trilogy will receive sequels, director David Fincher believes in the possibility.
According to Variety, Fincher thinks movie adaptations to "The Girl Who Played With Fire"and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets" are most likely to happen since Sony has already invested so much in the screenplays written by Steven Zailian.
“I think because (Sony) already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script, it will result in something,” he said. "“The script that we now have has huge potential. I can reveal that it is extremely different from the book.”
The English version of "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," which starred Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, made $232 million in 2011.
While we await for the possible sequels, Fincher is preparing for the October premiere of "Girl Gone," a movie he directed based on Gillian Flynn's bestseller.
