Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai are hitting it off.

People reported that the actress commemorated the Nobel Peace Prize winner's achievement by appreciating the philanthropic work she achieved on behalf of the Malala Fund.

Reese noted that it was her 15-year old daughter, Ava, who exposed her to Malala.

The actress had these comments to say about the Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai encounter when she attended Variety's "Power of Women Event," as reported by People:

"This summer, we got to meet Malala ... Ava and I,"

"We got to have dinner with her at a friend's house, which was incredible. She sat next to Ava at dinner and they talked about schoolwork and homework and what their life goals were, and Ava was just in awe of this 17-year-old woman."

Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai established an even stronger bond when Witherspoon's daughter was inspired by Malala to prioritize school. When Ava was in third grade, Reese explained to her daughter. The actress said:

"Instead of saying my usual, 'Mommy's not awake yet. We can talk about it after coffee,' I actually took the opportunity to explain to her that there are a lot of girls all over the world who don't even get the opportunity to even go to school."

"My daughter found that astounding, and from that point on, Ava became determined to help others understand the plight of women around the world."
