The latest news confirmed that Paul Feig will be directing "Ghostbusters 3". The director made the official announcement on Twitter. He wrote: "It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."

Paul Feig is known for directing films that are headlined by some of the funniest women in Hollywood. Since that is his forte, rumors started to emerge that the original cast of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis, will be replaced by an all-female cast.

The rumors turned out to be true, but fans now are wondering who the director will choose to star in "Ghostbusters 3". Upon hearing the latest news, "The X-Files" star Gillian Anderson showed a lot of interest in being casted in the reboot.

During a Reddit Q&A, the 46-year old actress was asked by a fan if she would like to be in the recently all-female casting of "Ghostbusters". She replied, "OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I'm free!!!!! I'm free I'm free and I'm funny, goddamnit!"

Her fan replied, "I just envisioned you in Ghostbusters & that would be awesome, people we need to make this happen." Anderson answered back, "MAKE IT HAPPEN!!" I'm pretty sure Paul Feig has heard of the actress' interest in joining the movie.

However, it seems that they have already chosen the actresses that will appear in "Ghostbusters 3". During a recent interview with E! Online, Bill Murray handpicked the women that he wanted to appear in the remake. He said, "Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster." The 64-year old actor added, "And Kristen Wiig is so funny-God, she's funny!".

Both women have already worked with Paul Feig so there's a huge possibility that he will choose them. Murray also revealed two more names: "I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there."
