Size, Display, Weight, Body

Galaxy Alpha has a smaller screen at 4.7 inches (s5 is 5.1 inches). The actual dimensions are also smaller with 132.4 x 65.5 x 6.7 mm, as against Galaxy s5's 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm. In a quick glance, there's not a lot of difference. But one can easily say that the Alpha is more comfortable to hold (and lesser prone to fall) as it is slimmer.

The latter also weighs less at 115g as opposed to s5's 145g. If you will have to choose in terms of body, Alpha is a sure winner with is metallic frame because s5 has a plastic body.

Battery

Being small comes with a 'price', though. The slimmer Alpha comes with 1860 mAh battery. Galaxy s5 is packed with 2800 mAh battery.  

Colors

Storage

Alpha has no microSD card slot - unlike s5. Hence, there's no possibility that you can increase the storage space. You will have to settle with what's already provided. However, Samsung compensated this with the inclusion of 32 GB storage for Alpha.
