This "Criminal Minds" review of season 10 episode 5 presents what could be considered as one of the most harrowing cases the team has ever handled: the kidnapping of a little boy. Although the team's investigation showed that, he bore no abuse, his disappearance and malnourished state alarmed them to the likelihood of other possible abductions of a similar nature.

First things first for this "Criminal Minds" review is the background of the case surrounding the abducted kid. Based on the account Entertainment Weekly shared, it all started with the chilling discovery of a boy and his mom as they are looking for pumpkins and apples in a pumpkin patch somewhere. Beneath one of the carts, they found a young boy dressed in a skeleton costume who was fighting for his life.

Hotch and his team were immediately dispatched to investigate the eerie case of the boy whom they found out was 11-year old Joshua Parker. As it turned out, he had been gone for 364 days. Although he survived, the team feared that there may have been more abduction.

So the team proceeded to investigate. And they were right. In the course of their investigation, another young prankster named Hunter was abducted.

Investigations continued and the team found out that a troubled unsub was behind the kidnappings. TV Fanatic shared that the perpetrator had a history of mental abuse as a child.

The team got their main lead when the sister walked into their station confessing that the man they may have been searching for could be her troubled brother. The "Criminal Minds" review of Entertainment Weekly then fast-forwarded to the scene where the team was trying to get some info from the unsub's mom.

The team eventually found more than what they expected. They have uncovered that the mom had killed her hubby in self-defense when he locked up the unsub in a trunk back when he was a kid. Although the latter was first reluctant to tell where he kept Hunter, he eventually broke down and revealed the boy's location. Thus, the team were able to save the boy.
