‘The Last: Naruto The Movie’ Mysterious Character Revealed, Get Some Information About Toneri Otsutsuki

"The Last: Naruto The Movie" which premieres on December 6, 2014 in Japan will introduce a new character. Previously, Anime News Network noted that Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is unveiling a new character: a "mysterious" man. The magazine teases that this "handsome young man with a well-proportioned face" is linked to the original manga. Reportedly, the addition to the list of characters is Toneri Ōtsutsuki to be played by Jun Fukuyama.

According to Anime News Network, franchise head and creator Japanese artist Masashi Kishimoto personally sketched the mysterious character that came from Otsutsuki lineage. Latin Times noted that the character has a crescent moon on his back indicating that he might have a unique ability to control the moon.

Reportedly, Shonen Jump reveal a little more about this Sage of Six Paths descendant in a plot summary for the upcoming movie:

"The moon has begun moving closer to Earth! As it is, the moon will crumble and meteorites will rain down on Earth's surface," wrote Shonen Jump. "As the last days of Earth approach, Hanabi Hyūga is abducted by a mysterious man in Konoha, and Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Shikamaru, and Hinata set off on a rescue mission! Can Naruto and the others overcome this crisis?"

Previous report stated that "The Last: Naruto The Movie" is a part of the larger "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project" which marks Naruto's 15th anniversary. The film which is directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi is said to be the first after it has launched the ninth film, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie which opened in Japan in July 2012 and became the highest grossing film in the franchise.

Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto manga franchise head and creator, is credited with the original story; character designs, and is the chief story supervisor of the film. Reportedly, he is also creating the sketches for the characters.
