Sherri Shepherd's latest news comes from an interview in "The Queen Latifah Show" where she talks about her divorce. According to Essence.com, the former "The View" co-host, who has been silent about it for quite some time, now she opens up about adjusting from a very public divorce from her ex-husband of three years, Lamar Sally.
"As long as you can get up and stand up, it's another chance to get things right. And I'm doing really well," Sherri told Queen Latifah in an interview. "Now if he (Lamar Sally) would stop talking about it in public I would be doing better. But I'm doing great. I'm moving. I'm grooving. Everything is good."
Reportedly, the Broadway performer relies on her faith to keep going. She admitted praying daily and got involved in the ministry.
"I used to be able to sit and listen to sermons, now they got me teaching Sunday School!" Shepherd said. "I'm going through a divorce and the pastor was like, 'You ain't doing nothing, go and teach Sunday school!'"
According to the interview, Sherri decided to let go of the marriage with Sally for the sake of her son Jeffrey.
In September, Sherri was being accused by her estranged husband of abandoning their surrogate baby. According to Daily Mail, after LJ was born, a letter from Sherri's lawyer was sent to Lamar telling him that the comedienne has "no relationship" with the child and that he would "not be covered" as a dependent on her health insurance.
"Sherri told me, 'it's your sperm, not my egg, so it's YOUR baby'," Lamar explains in the interview with Daily Mail.
Reportedly, Shepherd offered a one-time $100,000 payment for Sally and $3,000 in monthly child support however Sally allegedly declined as he wants more.
Daily Mail noted that the "Cinderella" star was not impressed about Sally's decision to share "photos of his son with a number of media outlets" since "he went to great lengths to protect the baby's privacy in court."
