HTC One M7 vs. HTC One M8: Both are HTC One series phones; hence, both are among the best Android smartphones ever made. M7 came in 2013; M8's 2014. With M8 being new, does it mean that customers should buy it instead of M7? Read the head-to-head comparison.

Display

Reading user reviews, it is evident that they love HTC One M7's design more. In terms of display, in reference to paper, M7 has a screen size of 4.7 inches with display resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 468 pixel density. M8 has bigger screen at 5 inches. It features the same display resolution but carries lower pixel density at 441 ppi. Technically, the disparity is in the sharpness of the display; hence, M7 is sharper than M8. However, there's not much of a difference; users may not be able to discern it.

Memory

M7 has no memory card slot. Internal memory is available in two storage sizes - 32GB and 64GB. It has 2GB RAM size. M8 enables the use of microSD; owners can expand the storage to a maximum of 128GB. Internal memory and RAM size are the same from that of M7's.

Hardware

HTC One M8 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801, quad-core clocked at 2.3GHz. HTC One M7, on the other hand, is packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, quad-core clocked at 1.7GHz. This means that M8 has the most recent chipset and therefore, faster CPU speed.

Battery Capacity

M7 features battery capacity of 2300mAh, up to 18 hours of talk time for 3G, with standby time of up to 500 hours for 3G. M8 gets higher in battery capacity with 2600mAh and with talk time of up to 20 hours for 3G and standby time of up to 496 hours for 3G.

HTC One M7 vs. HTC One M8: Basing on the specs above, one can easily say that M8 is a better choice as it is faster, allows storage expansion, has higher battery capacity, and other considerations. However, M7's specs are not far behind when compared to other flagship smartphones.
