Korean Stars Who Changed Their Birth Names

It is common for Korean stars to change their birth names when they debut as actors, actresses or singers. Some of the popular Korean stars who changed their birth names are Lee Min Ho, Jun Ji Hyun, Han Ga In, and Song Eun Chae. Actress Song Eun Chae, who stars in the upcoming film "Flower Without Owner," used to appear in the entertainment program X-man as Kang Eun Bi. Actress Jun Ji Hyun of the popular SBS drama "You Who Came From The Stars" has a birth name of Wang Ji Hyun, and actress Han Ga In, who is well-known for her recent film "Architecture 101," has a birth name of Kim Hyun Joo.

Then there are Korean stars who abandoned their stage names and started using their birth names again. Actor Lee Min Ho is one example. Early in his acting career, he used to go by the name of Lee Min. However, he was not able to succeed with his stage name Lee Min, and came back to his real name Lee Min Ho. Later on the KBS 2 TV drama "Boys Over Flowers," Lee Min Ho rose to a stardom.
