‘The Originals’ Season 2 Spoilers: Executive Producer Promises ‘Satisfying Conclusion' To Her Body Swap; Will Claire Holt Continue On As Rebekah?

In the midseason finale, Esther (Sonja Sohn) succeeded in transferring her daughter's soul to a new witch body (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) but thanks to Khol's antics, she's now stuck in a prison-like house for the naughty witches. Is her life in danger again?

Executive producer Michael Narducci shared some "The Originals" season 2 spoilers about the original vampire's plight to Hollywood Reporter.

According to the EP, Rebekah is "in a very dangerous place, trapped in a body that is all too vulnerable and mortal. And the threats that she is going to be facing, she is going to have to use her wits and her strength of character, instead of her speed, and her vampire strength."

With Esther dealt with for now, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) main concern will be in searching for their sister when the show resumes in January.

"And then, down the road, you get to the point [where they think], this is still our sister," he continued. "It's not a new [person]."

They would also be thinking about how this new body, despite not having vampiric qualities, might still help them in their fight against Dahlia who would be coming for Hope.

With Rebakah in a new body now, however, will original portrayer Claire Holt leave the show for good? According to Narducci, she won't.

"There's absolutely the possibility she would return," the EP shared. "We definitely want to continue to use Claire. We absolutely will use her in flashbacks in the way we've continued to use Nathaniel Buzolic in flashbacks, even though in the present day, Kol is in another body."

As for the present, Narducci teased that Rebekah could still return to her original body since it wasn't destroyed as Esther first hoped to do. They will reportedly incorporate the issue as"part of the storyline."

Narducci "definitely don't think - or hope - we've seen the last of Claire Holt."
