Actress Ki Eun-se is facing criticism from neighbors over the prolonged remodeling of her detached house in Pyeongchang-dong, one of Seoul's upscale neighborhoods, sparking complaints about construction-related disturbances and disruption to residential life.

Naver reported that a netizen claiming to be a family member of a resident in the area recently posted on online communities describing the problems caused by the construction. The person, who recently returned to Korea after living in the U.S., said they were uncomfortable witnessing the situation.
The netizen explained the difficulties residents face, saying, "They say the house has been under renovation for months because Ms. Ki Eun-se is moving in, but the alley in front of the house is occupied by construction vehicles, making it difficult for residents to even let a single car pass." They also pointed out that "The area is filled with construction debris and dust, yet the neighborhood isn't even being properly cleaned."
Concerns about the project's timeline were raised, "At first, they said it would be finished by mid-April, but now they are changing their story to say it will be finished by mid-May or that they don't know when it will end."

The netizen questioned the attitude of those involved in the project, stating, "It seems they are trying to gloss over this uncomfortable situation just because they are celebrities, but where does that sense of entitlement come from, taking the sacrifices of neighbors for granted?"
They also emphasized expectations for neighborly conduct. "I think they should have at least a minimum of common sense and courtesy toward their neighbors before building a wonderful house," and added, "Just because their parents are staying quiet does not make their suffering acceptable."
As the controversy grew, Ki Eun-se's representatives reportedly responded promptly. The netizen shared an update, "I received an apology message from a representative of Ki Eun-se's side and received a promise to visit the site in person and improve the parking and waste disposal issues." They expressed hope for a peaceful resolution, "I hope the construction will be completed smoothly in the future with mutual consideration, without any further conflict."
Per Herald, Ki Eun-se herself revealed last March on her personal YouTube channel that she was building a detached house in Pyeongchang-dong. She explained, "The construction team says it looks like they are building a new house. The construction is taking much longer than expected, and since we are replacing the aging facilities, the cost has gone up significantly beyond what we anticipated, putting us in a difficult situation."
Recently, she posted panoramic views of nearby mountains on social media, expressing her excitement about her new home.
Pyeongchang-dong is known as an affluent district in Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is home to various celebrities including singer Lee Hyori and actress Youn Yuh-jung. Ki Eun-se debuted in 2006 with the KBS drama "Invisible Man Choi Jang-soo" and appeared in films such as "A World Without Women" and "Family Honor: Returns". She married a Korean-American businessman in 2012 but divorced in 2023.
