Independence Day 2 Plot

"Independence Day 2" may launch with a resurrected character among the ranks, even if the lead isn't confirmed and there's no news Will Smith will be reprising his. "Independence Day 2" plot may also be wildly different from the film.

"Will Smith can not come back because he's too expensive, but he'd also be too much of a marquee name. It would be too much. We have like maybe half of the people that you know would know from the first film (in the script) and the other half people who are new." (screenrant.com)

A hint at the "Independence Day 2" plot may have been leaked by a single tweet, but's it's nonetheless revealing. Fans of the first movie will remember the supporting role Randy Quaid played, as the washed-up farmer who claimed he was abducted by aliens early in the film. At the climax, his heroic efforts singlehandedly took down the entire invasion by crashing his plane into an alien mother ship.

Director Roland Emmerich is set to direct the sequel to "Independence Day," and in a tweet, dropped either a harmless hint or a significant reveal.

"Ha-ha-ha! Hello, boys! I'm BAAAAAACK!" The tweet came with a photo of Russell Casse, the role Randy Quaid played in the movie. Cinema Blend supposes the character is resurrected from the dead, since his last appearance was followed by an epic explosion which destroyed everything within range.

"Independence Day 2" release date is slated for June 24, 2016, but there's doubt Quaid will be able to deliver to the part. Quaid and his wife Evgenia are still stuck in Canada after the US State Department revoked their passports. The couple has a string of legal issues behind them, including a dine-and-dash on a ten-dollar hotel bill.

The couple is suing John Kerry, as well as the US State Department over the revoked passports, which remains void after three years.

Quaid said "We can't go anywhere." His wife confirmed "Randy can't take a film job. He had to turn down the Cannes Film Festival last year. We can't proceed with our life." (foxnews.com)

Randy Quaid is older brother to Dennis Quaid, and aside from his rumored participation in the "Independence Day 2" plot, has also starred in "National Lampoon's Vacation."
