There were reports a few days ago that "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise celebrated Christmas with his ex-wife Katie Holmes and their daughter Suri. Irish Examiner reported that the 36-year old actress was the one who invited the 52-year old actor to join them on Christmas for the sake of their 8-year old daughter.

An insider said, "Katie wants to spend Christmas with her own family but has to put Suri first and will do everything in her power to make her happy." There were even reports that Tom Cruise may get in trouble with the Church of Scientology for visiting his ex-wife because she's considered a "suppressive person."

However, these reports were allegedly false as Katie Holmes' representative finally revealed what the actress and her daughter did for Christmas. Her rep told PEOPLE, "Katie did not spend Christmas afternoon with Tom Cruise. She and Suri spent Christmas afternoon visiting children at a local hospital in L.A."

It isn't surprising that Katie decided to spend Christmas without the "Mission Impossible 5" star since she is used to spending the holidays with her family. During an interview with David Letterman last November, "The Giver" actress shared her excitement for Thanksgiving.

She said, "I'm very excited because this year, I feel like it's really the year." Tom Cruise's ex-wife added, "I'm the baby of five and I've been sort of using that for a long time. But now I'm taking responsibility, and my mother's going to teach me how to make a turkey."

Back in October, Katie Holmes opened up to PEOPLE how she felt about being a single mom and maybe part of it was also about being free from Scientology. She said, "I don't have any fear now, I don't have a lot of rules for myself, and I don't take myself that seriously."

When she was asked about her career plans, Katie said: "I feel ready for new challenges." With regards to her divorce to "Mission Impossible 5" star Tom Cruise, she claims that she is still the same person. She said, "I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now."
