Some die-hard fans were not that happy when they found out that Paul Feig will direct "Ghostbusters 3" because they feel that he won't bring justice to the sequel. The 52-year old director is known for directing comedies which star women such as "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat". He shocked everyone when he announced through Twitter that the new "Ghostbusters" movie will star hilarious women.

People have grown to love the four lead stars of the original film: Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler) and Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore). And knowing that they will be replaced by women made some fans unhappy.

Despite the criticisms, the new "Ghostbusters 3" director managed to give a New Year's greetings to all the fans of the franchise including those who aren't fond of his remake. Paul Feig wrote on Twitter, "Happy New Year to everybody, even the Ghostbusters reboot haters. I love you all. I promise I will try not to ruin your childhoods. #iswear"

That message didn't stop the haters from criticizing the filmmakers' take on the new "Ghostbusters" movie. Followingthenerd replied, "why? Are you doing a sequel instead? #NewYearResolution#DoNotDestroyTheDreamsOfMillionsOfFans"

Brock Parker suggested, "If you'd not reboot, but allow a branch/franchise as mentioned by Venkman in the first movie, we'd be OK with it. #Ghostbusters" Jorge Tovalin commented, "there's no need to reboot a classic and beloved film. Anyway, good luck."

Based on the comments, there are quite a number of people who are against Paul Feig creating a reboot instead of a sequel. However, the director stands firm with his decision on "Ghostbusters 3". USA Today reported him saying, "A lot of people accused it of being a gimmick. I guess I can see the cynics' view of it, but for me I just love working with funny women. People said, 'Why don't you do a mix?' I'm just more interested in the idea of lady Ghostbusters. It's the way my brain works."

Do you think the new director of "Ghostbusters 3" will not ruin the childhood of the film franchise's die-hard fans?
