New ‘Supergirl’ TV Show A Procedural Crime-Solver? CBS Executive Confesses Plans For The Show; Drama Similar To ‘The Good Wife’; Female Empowerment Portrays Supergirl As The Every Woman

Procedural drama episodes planned for the "Supergirl" TV show! A CBS exec hopes the TV adaptation of Krypton's daughter would feature her as an every woman, as flipside to her secret superhero identity.

Rumors on the "Supergirl" TV show remain unconfirmed, particularly regarding the actor slated for the lead role; CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler broke the silence, though, confirming the show isn't rushed but remains in progress. The big tease? It's going to be procedural drama like "The Good Wife" and "Madam Secretary," at least as far as Tassler wants it to be.

The new superhero show will ooze with female empowerment, offering many sides of Supergirl as the every woman. The success of shows like "Agent Carter" somewhat paved the way for superhero TV series that are closer to reality.

Tassler said in an interview the show will involve more than superhero drama, but also family and career. Supergirl will be portrayed as the 24-year old achiever with a super-secret to keep (screenrant.com).

"There will be [crime] cases, but what [executive producers] Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti pitched was a real series arc for her..." Tassler teased.

"The beauty of it is now with shows like Good Wife and Madam Secretary, you can have serialized story elements woven into a case of the week. She's a crime solver, so she's going to have to solve a crime. She's going to get a bad guy."

The plot for the new show is a contrast to the adrenaline-pumped series "The Flash," but Tassler is confident self-contained episodes of crime solvers will take off; the series will have a running theme of female empowerment.

"It's a female empowerment story. If you look at the strong female characters we have on the air, it really is resonant of that ... We're big feminists. It's her intellect, it's her skill, it's her smarts. It's all of those elements. It's not just her strength, which she does have."

The "Supergirl" TV Show is expected to kick off first season within this year.
