Half Life 3 Being Worked On? After Counter Strike Director Confirmed 3rd Installment, Valve Gives Contradicting Statement

New reports suggest that Valve has possibly started developing Half Life 3, but could have decided to go a different direction along the way.

Counter Strike co-director Minhe Le has previously revealed that HL3 was in the works in his interview with goRGNtv.

"... I think it's kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on," Le said "So if I were to say I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news. But I guess I could say that I did see something that looked like kind of like in the Half-Life universe. It wouldn't surprise anyone if I said 'Yeah, they're working on it.' ... I would say yeah, I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3."

However, Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell's recent statement totally contradicts Le's. 

As Motoring Crunch reported, "When questioned about the game, Gabe simply says that he was surprised by the anticipation showed by the fans on Half Life 3. Gabe then concluded the Half Life subject by saying that Half Life 3 won't be released anytime soon as it is not being developed. However, due to the strong interest by the fans, Gabe admitted that the game is possible for production in the future."

Newell's answer should be a wake-up call to fans of the franchise.  Should the game materialize, it won't be anytime soon.

As Master Herald reported, "Half-Life 3 may exist. Whether it's true or not, this is being suggested by Swedish Videogame Store Webhallen, where recently a brand new retail listing has been found. According to the information provided in the barebones product page, it seems that we may get to experience a 2015 release for the PC platform."

"Webhallen is a relatively popular games retailer. As a result of which this newly released rumor could still be genuine. From 2005-2013, the entire chain was owned by Amazon itself. Till date, it consists of nine different Swedish stores along with a well-referenced online marketplace."

"Although this sounds quite in reference to places like GameStop in the U.S, it is still a well-managed distribution channel for Sweden. Swedish Gamers surely trust the branding of 'Webhallen'. However, it remains to be seen whether the rest of the world should."

Despite the rumored 2015 release date, no confirmation has been made regarding the leaked information from Webhallen.
