Actress Nam Sang Mi married her non-celebrity husband on January 24 in a small church wedding in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do. Only family members and close friends were invited. The wedding was officiated by the pastor of the church that she recently began attending with her in-laws.
According to her agency JR Entertainment, it was exactly the kind of wedding she always wanted.
"She always wanted to have a private wedding," said the JR Entertainment representative. "We have sent our personal apologies to the people who were not invited."
The agency did not release a statement on whether any of the close friends Nam Sang Mi invited were celebrities.
Nam Sang Mi's husband is an entrepreneur. He owns a small business. The couple met in 2013 through a mutual friend. They started out as friends and the relationship eventually grew into something more. Her agency once described the groom as an "average guy," someone who is "reliable." The agency also said that Nam Sang Mi decided to marry him because he was easygoing and sincere.
The couple officially announced their wedding plans in November 2014. The actress reminded fans that she was about to marry when she accepted an Excellence Award for her acting in "The Joseon Gunman" at the 2014 KBS Drama Awards. She appeared in that historical drama with Lee Jun Ki, who was also her co-star in the drama "Time Between Wolf and Dog."
Nam Sang Mi and her husband have postponed taking a honeymoon until they have a clearer idea of what lies ahead.
"The groom works in a different field, so they will honeymoon later once they have adjusted their schedules," said the JR Entertainment representative. For now the couple plans to live in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do.
Nam Sang Mi is currently taking a break from acting but is actively considering her next project. It won't be a long break. The 30-year-old actress intends to continue taking roles.
"There will be no difference in her activities now that she is married," said the JR Entertainment representative.
Nam Sang Mi previously appeared in the dramas "Goddess of Marriage," and "Life is Beautiful." She can also be seen in the films "Possessed" and "Short Video," as well as the independent film "The Peach Tree," which was directed by her close friend actress, director and artist Gu Hye Sun.
