Paul Feig finally revealed the cast and release date of "Ghostbusters 3"! We reported last time that Melissa McCarthy is already in early talks with the director. It looks like the negotiations paid off because she is now part of the remake.

Joining the comedian is her "Bridesmaids" co-star Kristen Wiig, both were Bill Murray's personal choice for the cast. Several months ago, the actor who plays Peter Venkman in the 1984 classic film, revealed his dream team for the reboot. Apart from McCarthy and Wiig, he mentioned Emma Stone and Linda Cardinelli.

Unfortunately, both actresses didn't bag the role as a female ghostbuster. Paul Feig chose Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon of "Saturday Night Live," instead. The filmmaker announced the cast of "Ghostbusters 3" via Twitter. He posted a photo of the four actresses and fans were thrilled when they saw it.

"It this the new Ghostbusters team?!? I'm in!" Twitter user Brian Robinson replied to the post.

Allie Mac Kay praised the director sayimg, "One of the many reasons that you're an absolute treasure! Can't wait for this!"

"THAT is the Fantastic Four. So excited!!" Another fan named Donna D. commented.

After revealing the all-female cast, Paul Feig finally dropped the release date of the remake.

"In other news, #Ghostbusters will be hitting theaters July 22, 2016. Save the date!" He wrote on a Twitter post.

Two of the original cast showed support to the new movie.

Dan Aykroyd, who gained fame for his role as Ray Stantz, expressed how happy he was to pass his role to the new cast.

"The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy," he told The Hollywood Reporter (via Flicksided),

Billy Murray also expressed how much he liked Paul Feig's idea of making a remake instead of a sequel.

"It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor!" He told Access Hollywood via (Schmoes Knows).

"No, it's a grande idea, I don't know who they're talking about, but it's a good idea, I would watch it! I mean, I love Robert Palmer's videos, so why wouldn't I love the female Ghostbusters?" The comedian added.

However, one of the original cast members seems to be against the remake.

"If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it's all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?" Ernie Hudson told The Telegraph.

"I love females. I hope that if they go that way, at least they'll be funny, and if they're not funny at least hopefully it'll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that's great. But all-female, I think, would be a bad idea. I don't think the fans want to see that," The actor who starred as Winston Zeddemore in the "Ghostbusters" series explained.

What do you think of the all-female cast of "Ghostbusters 3"?
