Angelina Jolie as a Marvel movie director? Insider insists the Brangelina better half is being wooed to direct a film in the ever-expanding MCU.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe could have a movie heroine at the helm of one of its feature films, according to an insider. Angelina Jolie apparently is being considered as a Marvel movie director, for a title that's equally fitting: the "Captain Marvel" movie, which also stars a female protagonist.

Insiders leak rumors to Spoiler TV that Marvel is willing to offer as much as $20 million to Angelina Jolie to direct the "Captain Marvel" movie. Marvel has also confirmed it'll prioritize a female director for the film, whether or not Jolie accepts the offer.

Marvel Studios confirmed last year it's developing its first heroine movie in Carol Danvers, in an unexpected twist of a role, as Captain Marvel. The announcement was still a pleasant surprise for fans of the character; names were dropped for roles, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Black Adam.

The director and lead actor for the film remain unannounced, though, and Marvel is reportedly yet to settle on candidates.

An insider to OK! Magazine did insist Jolie is high on the short list of potentials to direct the movie:

"Having a female director is a priority for them [Marvel]," the insider said. "...She [Jolie] never thought she'd be in such huge demand as a director, and to be courted by Marvel after the Sony fiasco is a huge pat on the back."

Executives at Marvel Studios were reportedly impressed with Jolie's work in "Unbroken," and even though reports insist the actress is seriously considering the offer, an official deal has yet to be struck.

Josh Whedon is included in the short list of candidates to direct Captain Marvel, but is currently busy with other projects, following on the success of "The Avengers" and its sequel "Age of Ultron."

Angelina Jolie as Marvel's female director could boost the actress's cred to the larger fan boy audience; her next directorial project is "By the Sea," where she reunites with real-life hubby Brad Pitt on screen (cinemablend.com).
