Five Fun Facts About Uee
Kim Yu Jin aka Uee is a member of the girl group After School and an actress who has appeared in such k-dramas as "You're Beautiful" with Jang Geun Suk and "Golden Rainbow" with Jung Il Woo.
In her new drama "Fool's Love,"also known as "Ho Gu's Love," she plays swimmer Do Do Hee. She's icily beautiful as the girl everyone loved in high school. But now she has a secret. Do Hee pregnant. And that will come as a surprise to the man who loves her, played by Choi Woo Sik.
Here are a few more things you may want to know about the multi-talented Uee.
1. She's good at playing a bad girl even though she's pretty nice. She was cast as Jang Geun Suk's pretend girlfriend in "You're Beautiful" after appearing in Mighty Mouth's music video for "Love Class" with Hyuna. It's hard to see how her cute, sweet character in that music video led to being cast as one of k-drama's most backstabbing second leads. But she aced that role nevertheless.
2. Her family is pretty athletic. Her dad is a baseball star. He's the third base coach of the South Korean baseball team "Heroes." She trained as a swimmer and did so well that she participated in the Korean National Sports Festival. She gets to show off her swimming skills in "Fool's Love."
3. She's a hard worker. Between acting and singing she rarely takes breaks.
"I don't think I've ever taken a proper break," she said in a 2014 interview with Korean media outlet Daily Sports. "Luckily, my acting and singing schedules have never overlapped. If they had, I think it would have been really hard. Seeing idols nowadays who do both album promotions and acting at the same time, it's impressive."
4. She was rumored to be dating Joo Won when she co-starred with him in Okagyo Brothers." They had a lot of believable kiss scenes in the drama but she says they were kind of awkward to film.
"So many people kept asking if Joo Won and I were really dating," she said in a 2012 Star interview. "We had so many kiss scenes, one member of our group even jealously asked me how many kiss scenes we 'really' had. Actually, whenever we filmed romantic scenes we were so embarrassed, we just wanted to run away as fast as possible. In the end we decided to use that embarrassed feeling to act out those scenes, but somehow when audiences watched those scene, they found it cute and they loved it"
She was also rumored at one point to be dating singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong but they both denied it.
5. She looks up to several actresses. The actresses she admires and wants to be like include Jun Ji Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin and Kim Go Eun. She envies their work and hopes to work on her acting skills so she can one day get meatier roles.
