Actor Ji Chang Wook is one of the leading K-Drama breakout stars in 2015. His popularity in China is reflected through his status as a trending Hallyu star on Weibo.

On February 25, the Korean outlet Top Star News released a report which compiled the top 15 Korean actors and idols on Sina Weibo. The actor topped the list as one of the most talked about Hallyu stars on the social media service, which incorporates aspects of SNS applications like Twitter with the functionality of Tumblr or Blogger.

In the report, Top Star News reflected on the difference between popularity for stars in Korea versus their popularity in China. The publication also noted stars who are currently promoting activities and those who were not.

EXO’s Sehun placed second on the list, followed by his popular group.

Ji Chang Wook’s presence at the top of the list is significant because he is currently not working on a project which is specifically intended for Chinese audiences.

Rain (Jung Ji Hoon), who is currently starring in the Chinese drama “Diamond Lover,” was third on the list. Lee Joong Gi placed fourth on the list, as fans in China eagerly await his upcoming film, “Under the Sicily Sun.”

SM Entertainment’s Super Junior, Ahn Jae Wook, Song Seung Hun, Won Bin and Bae Yong Jun were in the top 10 portion of the list. Kwon Sang Woo, Seo Ji Sub, Jo In Sung, TVXQ and Won Bin rounded out the compilation.

K-Drama audiences were captivated by the combination of action and romance that was incorporated in “Healer.” Ji and his co-star, Park Min Young, exhibited on-screen chemistry which elevated the series above many recent K-Drama action series.

In acknowledgement of his increasing popularity with domestic and international audiences, the actor provided numerous interviews following the completion of “Healer.”
