IU, Gong Hyo Jin And Kim Soo Hyun Have Joined 'Producer' [UPDATED]

Gong Hyo Jin, IU and Kim Soo Hyun have joined the KBS2 upcoming series, “Producer.” KBS has confirmed the casting of the three stars, following rumors which began early Monday. IU and Gong Hyo Jin were announced as cast members prior to the confirmation of Kim Soo Hyun.

The news began when Star News published a report which cited an unnamed source at KBS as confirmation for the highly anticipated casting news.

Kim Soo Hyun was the last star to join the project. He was cast in the role of a new producer at the fictitious station.

Anticipation continues to build for the drama, following news that Kim Soo Hyun would lead the series.

“Producer” is a highly anticipated show for several reasons. The program would mark the K-Drama return for Gong Hyo Jin, IU Kim Soo Hyun. Gong is highly sought after, following her run with two successful dramas, “Master's Sun” and “It's Okay, That's Love.”

The pairing of IU and Kim Soo Hyun has drama fans in a frenzy. The stars last appeared together in the teen musical series, “Dream High.”

Cha Tae Hyun has been confirmed to appear in “Producer,” as the head producer of an entertainment division.

“Producer” will also mark the return for the screenwriter of “My Love From The Stars,” Park Ji Eun. While she received acclaim for “My Love From The Stars,” she was also responsible for the series, “Queen of Reversals.”

The director for the series, Seo Soo Min, has previously worked with variety shows including “1 Night, 2 Days” and “Gag Concert.”

The series will be a weekend drama which is scheduled to premier on April 17.
